‘Tis the Season to Be Reading

If you’re ahead of the game when it comes to Christmas prep — cookies baked, presents wrapped, tree decorated — then it’s time for a little “me time.” Treat yourself to a few minutes (or few hours) by curling up with a good book.

Emily Kornak, Lake Geneva Public Library director crowdsourced book picks from library employees for our December must reads. Below are a few titles they’re currently enjoying and recommending, and they’re all available via curbside pickup from the library.

Happy holidays and happy reading from the Lake Geneva Public Library staff and At The Lake!

  • “The Dragon Republic” by R.F. Kuang. The second in a fantasy trilogy, so start with “The Poppy War.”
  • “A Promised Land” by Barack Obama. The first volume of President Obama’s memoirs
  • “The Bridge” by Bill Konigsberg
  • “One to Watch” by Kate Stayman-London
  • “The Empath’s Survival Guide: Life Strategies for Sensitive People” by Judith Orloff
  • “Heresy” by Melissa Lenhardt
  • “Dark Archives: A Librarian’s Investigation Into the Science and History of Books Bound in Human Skin” by Megan Rosenbloom
  • “Worth Fighting For: Loss, Love, and Moving Forward” by Lisa Niemi Swayze
  • “The Gentle Art of Horseback Riding” by Gincy Self Bucklin
  • “Patti Smith: An Unauthorized Biography” by Victor Bockris and Roberta Bayley
