Fall Fun for Everyone

Summer is officially in the rearview mirror but there’s so much to love about autumn. The warm, sunny days ahead are the perfect backdrop for the beginning of Mother Nature’s show of spectacular fall foliage. Although it might be a bit early to do any leaf peeping, it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy some fun fall activities.

Apple Fest: The Apple Barn Orchard & Winery hosts its 32nd Annual Apple Fest this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 26-27. Enjoy apple picking, select the perfect pumpkin and indulge in the flavors of fall with hot apple cider donuts, caramel apples and other baked goodies. Browse the farm store for Wisconsin-made food items and shop for fall décor. The outdoor wine tasting event showcases the Apple Barn’s award-winning fruit wines. There also will be food trucks and live music both days.

Craft Brew Open: On Saturday, Sept. 26, tee it up at Lake Lawn Resort’s 2nd Annual Craft Brew Open, an 18-hole golf tournament, featuring a two-player Ryder Cup-style format. In keeping with an Oktoberfest theme, six breweries will be on hand to offer samples on the golf course, while Lake Geneva Country Meats will be offering “Bavarian” style sausage samples. Plan for a full day of fun, starting with a continental breakfast, followed by golf, a lunch cookout, plus plenty of prizes. A portion of the tournament’s proceeds will benefit Open Arms Free Clinic.

Elkhorn Antique Flea Market: If you’re a fan of the TV show “American Pickers,” the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market this Sunday, Sept. 27, is the perfect place to hunt for treasures. In its 39th season, the market has grown from just 50 dealers to over 500 with every flea market-find imaginable from glassware and pottery to furniture and advertising collectibles. The gates open at 7 a.m., rain or shine.
