This year, we all deserve an extra dose of holiday cheer and the Elkhorn Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Walworth County and the Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank are on a mission to ensure that happens with an all-new event occurring this Friday, Dec. 4, immediately following Elkhorn’s annual Christmas Tree lighting on the downtown square.
Let it Glow, a free, ½-mile-long drive-thru festival of lights at the Walworth County Fairgrounds will feature displays and imaginative workstations for Santa’s favorite helpers. Plus, kids can wave to the jolly old man himself and hand their letters to his elves for special delivery to the North Pole. All the fun gets underway at 7 p.m.
According to Tammy Dunn, Executive Director for the United Way of Walworth County, the current climate of COVID-19 has caused everyone to wonder what the holidays would be filled with, so when Maryann Zimmerman, general manager of the Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank approached her with the idea of providing extra cheer to the community this year, they knew they needed to join forces with the Elkhorn Chamber.
“While our committee can administrate the event, we need help breathing life into the animation of Let It Glow,” said Elkhorn Chamber Executive Director Chris Clapper in a news release. “The fairgrounds are the perfect venue for this event and we hope to make it a tradition families in Walworth County can look forward to for many years to come.”
