Paper Dolls Helps You Create the Home of Your Dreams

Originally established as a wallpaper hanging business, 33 years ago, today Lake Geneva’s Paper Dolls Home Furnishings is considered a premier destination for name brand furniture, unique artwork, interesting accent pieces and a talented staff of interior designers.

Owner Kristi Hugunin and her partner, Chris Haak, who retired in 2010, opened their 600-square-foot store in 1986. Through years of hard work, the business has expanded and now encompasses 16,000 square feet in the Geneva Square Shopping Center. Although extremely proud of the store and its growth, Hugunin is quick to attribute her success to the glory of God.

According to Hugunin, Paper Dolls carries only the finest name brand furniture from manufacturers such as Lee, Fairfield, Norwalk, Rowe, Lexington and Braxton Culler. You’ll also find a leather furniture line from Hancock and Moore.

In addition to furniture and accessories, the store is widely known for its selection of artwork. “It’s unique and ever-changing,” says Hugunin. The constantly evolving look also applies to the store’s room settings which offer inspiration to customers as well as the store’s staff of interior designers who are available to help customers with any project in their home, no matter how big or small. “Our mission is to help people create the home they’ve always dreamed of and to make their vision a reality,” Hugunin says.

Just some of design services available include accessorizing room settings; custom window treatments; fabric selections for upholstery, drapery and bedding ensembles; and assistance with the selection of wallpaper, tile, floor coverings and fixtures.

The store’s upcoming sidewalk sale is a customer favorite and many travel from all over southeast Wisconsin and northern Illinois to attend. The year’s event is Aug. 16-17 and Hugunin says prices on sale items will be discounted from 50-75%. The sale will include a variety of store inventory from lamps and headboards to sofas and artwork.

Another date to mark on your calendar is Monday, Nov. 11. This is the start of Paper Doll’s annual Christmas showcase, which according to Hugunin, is a complete transformation of the store for the holiday season. She says she feels strongly in maintaining the tradition for their customers.
