Self-Pouring Convenience

A new way to enjoy wine tasting is coming to the Geneva Lakes area in April. Tracey Wieder, co-owner of Mia Faccia Salon & Medi Spa is opening Niche Lake Geneva, the first wine dispensary in Walworth County.

Located next to Mia Faccia, at 715 Hunt Club Lane, adjacent to Geneva National Golf Club, Niche will feature a 24-bottle wall dispenser that is fully automated for self-serve tastings. The new technology is something Wieder learned more about when she visited her best friend in Napa Valley, California, where wineries and wine bars are implementing it. “There isn’t anything like it in our area and I thought Lake Geneva would be a good fit,” she says.

Customers simply obtain a wine card, which is similar to a credit card or hotel card, at the front counter, place their glass under their wine selection’s spout, insert their card and choose a pour size — three options will be available. Before leaving, customers pay for wine pours that have been recorded on the card.

Niche, according to Wieder, will be about convenience. “It’s going to be simple and casual. You’ll be able to try 24 different wines – 12 red and 12 white – from various price ranges in a relaxed environment.”

To complement the wine, Wieder is working with The Cheese Box in Lake Geneva for a selection of cheese platters as well as the chef at Geneva National for healthy prepackaged wraps and salads. Niche will also carry locally roasted coffee from Lake Geneva Coffee Roastery.

Wieder says they’ll be adding a patio for outdoor seating this summer and they hope to offer acoustic guitar music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
