Three Must-Read Books for this Fall

SHOULDER SEASON

BY CHRISTINA CLANCY

Released in July, this novel from Madison author Christina Clancy tells the story of Sherri, a 19-year-old who takes a job as a bunny at Lake Geneva’s Playboy Club-Hotel in 1981. Drama and a love triangle ensue, with the famed resort as a backdrop. This one has generated lots of buzz from national outlets — it was even named a “Best Book of the Summer” by “Good Morning, America.”

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT

BY BRAD THOR

Pick up this book for an adrenaline-loaded thriller complete with assassins, conspiracies, high-speed chases, and an intrepid counterterrorism agent whose pursuit of the bad guys leads him to Fontana, and then Lake Geneva. Written by New York Times-bestselling author Brad Thor, this is the sixth book in his Scot Horvath series, which starts with The Lions of Lucerne.

SAM’S LETTERS TO JENNIFER

BY JAMES PATTERSON

Lake Geneva is everywhere in this book: Yerkes Observatory, the Lake Geneva Country Club, Black Point, sailing through the Narrows, Venetian Fest, and more. This one is a good romance with complex family relationships (and the kind of book that will make you shed tears). No spoilers here, but this is definitely a book that will make you realize how much this area has to offer.
