Start the New Year with a New Book

If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to read more in 2021, the staff at the Lake Geneva Public Library has a few new titles that are sure to keep you on track to meet your goal. If these particular books don’t pique your interest, the friendly library staff will help you discover a love of reading – just give them a call or drop them an email and they’ll offer a few recommendations.

“The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” by V. E. Schwab

A stunning novel that touches on the question of what you would do — or give up for — your deepest desire? In the 1700s, a young woman in France trades her soul for (eternal?) life and freedom, and quickly realizes that freedom comes with unforeseen repercussions. Read for a dose of fantasy, romance, history, art, love, philosophy and a distinctly unforgettable heroine. Recommended by librarian Emily.

“Instant Karma” by Marissa Meyer

A charming YA rom-com by the author of Cinder. Pru and Quint —  NOT friends at the start of the story — volunteer at a marine animal rehabilitation center and learn about local marine life, fundraising for a nonprofit and each other. Add some karma magic and watch the sparks fly! Recommended by librarian Sara.

“100 Hikes of a Lifetime: The World’s Ultimate Scenic Trails” Published by National Geographic

Photography worthy of National Geographic depicts hiking trails around the world. While it may be difficult or not recommended to travel currently, this will almost certainly add some destinations to your post-pandemic travel list. A must for armchair travelers.

To reserve any of these titles, either call the Lake Geneva Public Library at 262-249-5299 or email [email protected]. You can also search their online catalog for these and thousands of other titles. Happy reading and Happy New Year!
